LIPCHITZ Jacques (1891-1973)

Jacques Lipchitz was a Cubist sculptor. He was born in Druskieniki and moves to Paris in 1909 where he studies at Academie Julian and les Beaux-Arts. He then moves in a workshop and meets young modern artists like Picasso, Chagall, Soutine and Modigliani. His first works are made in 1913 and are in the line of analitycal cubism. He was one of the 250 sculptors who exhibited in the Third Sculpture International Exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1949.
