STAHLY François (1911-2006)


Working very early with wood, Stahly used fluid and curved lines. He made his studies at Academie Ranson under Malfray and is surrounded by fellow artists like Le Moal, or Manessier. He worked on his first public order for the 1937 Exposotion Universelle in Paris, which will be followed by other public works for the Vincennes Parc Floral or the Jussieu science faculty. He also received many prices for his work, the Grand Prix des Beaux-Arts in 1972 or Grand Prix de la Biennnale de Tokyo in 1965. In 1992, he becomes a member of the Academie des Beaux-Arts.
