XIX - XXth century sculptures

MENE Pierre Jules (1810-1879)

Before having his artworks in the Salon in 1838 and becoming famous, Mène had to work in fields unrelated to his vocation. He will become, besides Barye, the most famous animal sculptor with his Hunting scenes, deer, dogs and birds. From 1837, he will open his own foundry  to edit his own work and later Auguste Cain's. Their models will be bought and edited after their death by Susse. His most famous artwork is a group of arabic horses also called “l'Accolade”  and will be presented at the 1852 Salon.
